***Don't forget about the reed check week of 2/20!!!(3 good reeds for rotation)***

As we approach cycle 5 we will be assessing playing tests in a different fashion.   The students will play a short selection of the UIL music (TBD), at a set tempo FROM MEMORY.  This will be our new "20 second" test and will be the bulk of their playing grade in the first half of cycle 5. The week after spring break we will hold "UIL Finals" tests.  Each student will play a large section of several pieces of their music (NOT from memory) for a director with a metronome.  It is at this time that we will assess which students compete at the UIL contest in mid-April. Students who make it into the UIL band will then have outside of school sectionals for the two weeks before UIL at a time to be determined.
