Hello Mav Band and Guard Family!
Congratulations to the Mav Band students who performed in the Region Band this weekend! They had some of the best band conductors in the country in front of them and they put on a fantastic performance yesterday evening.
Weekly Rehearsal/Event Schedule

SYMPHONIC BAND has a rehearsal next Thursday after school! We do not have percussionists during our class time and this is the only opportunity to have the full band together before our Feb. 5th concert, so we must have everyone in attendance.
We kicked off our annual mulch fundraiser last week. What? Mulch? Yes...mulch. We try to sell things that people purchase anyway and we want to have the entire community support us instead of only our band and guard families.
his may sound like a strange fundraiser if you are new to HS band/guard. However, this has become standard for high school bands in the area. People will purchase mulch this year and we want them to buy it from us. We partner with Austin Wood Recycling to sell Texas Native mulch to the entire McNeil High School attendance zone, and even some areas outside of it.
EVERY FAMILY is expected to participate in delivering the orders on March 2nd, so put it on your calendar if you haven't already. Our goal is to sell 15,000 bags, which is almost as much as the bands in our area will sell.
Pro tip: If someone doesn't purchase mulch from you, then ask if they would like to donate instead. Students can earn credit for a bag sold for every $3 donated!
Unless you chose to opt out of the mulch fundraiser in your Everything Day registration, the expectation is for every student to sell 100 bags. Students received packets in the classes last week, and I am attaching a revised information sheet. SELL NOW because other bands will beat you to it! Reach out to homeowners, apartment complexes, businesses, landscaping companies, and anyone else.
